Mozzarella, Monterey Jack, White Cheddar, and Parmesan cheeses come together on a homemade pizza dough lathered with garlic butter.

Number Of Ingredients 15

THE DOUGH:
1 cup warm water
1 packet active dry yeast (about 2 tsp)
1 TBSP honey
3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 TBSP plus 1 tsp olive oil, divided
THE TOPPINGS:
3 TBSP unsalted butter, softened
4 medium garlic cloves, minced
4 ounces (1 cup) shredded mozzarella cheese
4 ounces (1 cup) shredded white cheddar cheese
4 ounces (1 cup) shredded Monterey Jack cheese
1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup freshly chopped parsley

Steps:

  • THE DOUGH:
  • 1. In a stand mixer or large bowl mix the water, yeast, and honey. Let rest 10 minutes or until yeast begins to foam.
  • 2. Add the flour, salt, and 1 TBSP of the oil, mix until well combined and dough pulls away from sides of bowl.
  • 3. Knead the dough 10 minutes by hand or about 5 minutes using a stand mixer with a dough hook.
  • 4. Form the dough into a ball and place in a large bowl with the remaining 1 tsp of olive oil. Flip the dough ball around to cover in the oil then cover the dough with a damp towel and put in a warm place to rise for about 45 minutes.
  • ASSEMBLY:
  • 1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Lightly oil a large 16-inch pizza pan.
  • 2. Punch down the dough and stretch or roll it out onto your pizza pan.
  • 3. In a small bowl mix together the softened butter and minced garlic.
  • 4. Spread the garlic butter all over the top of the pizza dough. Sprinkle the mozzarella, cheddar, and Monterey Jack cheeses evenly on top (save the Parmesan for later).
  • 5. Bake in the preheated oven until crust is golden brown, 13 to 15 minutes.
  • 6. Take pizza out of the oven and sprinkle the Parmesan and parsley all over the top. Slice and serve.

1 teaspoon active dry yeast
? cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 (10 ounce) can tomato sauce
1 pound shredded mozzarella cheese
½ cup grated Romano cheese
¼ cup chopped fresh basil
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon red pepper flakes
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Sprinkle the yeast over the surface of the warm water in a large bowl. Let stand for 1 minute, then stir to dissolve. Mix in the flour, salt and olive oil. When the dough is too thick to stir, turn out onto a floured surface, and knead for 5 minutes. Knead in a little more flour if the dough is too sticky. Place into an oiled bowl, cover, and set aside in a warm place to rise until doubled in bulk.
  • Preheat the oven to 475 degrees F (245 degrees C). If using a pizza stone, preheat it in the oven as well, setting it on the lowest shelf.
  • When the dough has risen, flatten it out on a lightly floured surface. Roll or stretch out into a 12 inch circle, and place on a baking pan. If you are using a pizza stone, you may place it on a piece of parchment while preheating the stone in the oven.
  • Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle with oregano, mozzarella cheese, basil, Romano cheese and red pepper flakes.
  • Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until the bottom of the crust is browned when you lift up the edge a little, and cheese is melted and bubbly. Cool for about 5 minutes before slicing and serving.

I love everything or anything to do with artichokes. meaty, delicious and so elegant, every heart of artichoke is like a heart-licious love-song-of-taste-and-flavor. Give me artichokes in all three courses of a meal and I will be a happy camper.

I made and had artichoke pizza many times. But, first time, I saw artichoke and garlic bottled pizza sauce in Williams Sonoma store.  Loved the idea of bottling the old favorite and this is when the idea of gifting pizza sauce to my friends hit me.

I sure wanted to purchase a bottle from store there but $12.95 a jar kind restrained me from adding it to my shopping cart. Thing is, I don't mind spending on utensils/accessories for my food blog once-in-a-while but canned foods/sauces/spices, all of these I love make'em at home. This way I save money and able to share some good food finds and it's recipe with you all.

Even if you buy organic, 1.5 cup pizza sauce with parmesan cheese will cost you - $4.40 (salt, pepper and oil on the house) vs $6.25 per 1.5 cup store bought without cheese. Bonus! good fresh ingredients and natural preservatives (oil and lemon)

Add Artichokes..... Add drained artichokes, black pepper, and parmesan. I happen to like black pepper a lot, so have added 1/2 teaspoon. You can adjust quantity per your taste.

Pulse..... With motor running add olive oil at slow stream to emulsify. I have kept artichoke a little chunky for texture. You can process it little longer for a very fine sauce. Plus taste and adjust salt.
