CHAI TEA LATTE RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE IT
My family loves this comforting chai tea latte recipe, especially on cold days instead of cocoa or when they're feeling under the weather. I simplified this chai tea recipe by using the filter basket of our coffeepot. It's delicious and great after dinner! —Julie Plummer, Sykesville, Maryland

- Place the tea bags, cinnamon, ginger and allspice in the coffee filter of a drip coffeemaker. Add water; brew according to manufacturer's directions. , Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the milk, brown sugar and creamer. Cook and stir over medium heat until heated through and sugar is dissolved. Pour milk mixture into mugs; stir in tea. If desired, dollop with whipped topping and sprinkle with nutmeg.

It’s sweet, bitter and a little savory all at once, like a tiramisù in beverage form. The salted, sugared cream should float atop the cold coffee without collapsing into it, creating two distinct layers: one dark and weighty like a horseshoe, and the other light as a feather.

- In a small bowl, whisk together the cream, sugar and salt until thickened and airy but far before peaks form. It should be decidedly thinner than whipped cream and have the consistency of melted ice cream: silky, light and pourable.
- Assemble the drinks: Divide the ice and coffee between two (12-ounce) tumbler glasses. Pour the cream into each glass and, through a fine-mesh sieve or with your fingertips, lightly dust with cocoa powder.
