This is a spinoff of Giada De Laurentiis' recipe "Vegetable Fritto Misto. She used four kinds of vegetables. I decided just to use one. These taste a bit like peanuts.

1 (16 ounce) garbanzo beans
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
oil (for frying)

Steps:

  • Drain and rinse beans. Heat oil to 375 degrees F. Mix flour, salt and both peppers. Dredge beans in flour mixture. Fry for 1 to 3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

I love garbanzos and I cannot hide it. I love them so much that during the time I worked in an office I would take a little bag of them with me to munch on while I worked. One day a week I would prepare this simple recipe, I would just fry the garbanzos in olive oil and then season them with salt and paprika. Finally, I would pack them into individual baggies and enjoy them all week. If you like spicy foods you can add a bit of chili powder, though I have yet to try it. Now that you have the recipe, enjoy this tasty snack and take it with you wherever you go!

Number Of Ingredients 4

1 can (15-oz) garbanzo beans
3 tablespoons olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika
Salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Wash the garbanzos and thoroughly remove the water. Place on a paper towel to dry completely.
  • Heat the oil in a saucepan and add the garbanzos. Add salt to taste
  • Stir once in a while and let brown, at least 20 minutes.
  • Once they’re ready sprinkle with paprika.
  • Store in a sealed container or a bag with a seal.
