FRIED EGGS RECIPE: HOW TO MAKE FRIED EGGS - AUSTRALIAN EGGS

Fried Eggs Recipe: How to Make Fried Eggs - Australian Eggs image

Want a delicious fried egg recipe? Find out how to fry an egg sunny side up, over easy, or over hard with these simple instructions.

Categories     Quick & Easy    Breakfast Recipes    Vegetarian

Total Time 4 minutes

Yield 1

Number Of Ingredients 3

2 eggs
1 tbsp olive oil
Salt and pepper, to taste

Steps:

  • Heat a non-stick frying pan over a medium heat and add enough olive oil to lightly coat the bottom of the pan. Wait for the oil to heat up sufficiently because the egg whites will spread across the pan if added too early. Keep an eye on the temperature and if the oil starts to spit, turn the heat down to low.
  • Once the pan is sufficiently heated, crack the eggs into the pan and cover with a lid. You want to cook the eggs until the yolk is set but still runny and the edges of the egg white are golden brown and starting to curl. This should only take three minutes, depending on how well you like your fried eggs cooked. Putting a lid on the pan slightly steams the egg while it's frying and this helps the yolk to set properly.
  • When the eggs are cooked to your taste, remove them from the pan with a spatula and place them on a plate or on top of toast with the yolk side up.
  • Season the eggs with a pinch of salt and pepper.

CHINESE STIR-FRIED TOMATOES AND EGGS RECIPE - NYT COOKING
Home-style Chinese food at its simplest and, arguably, tastiest, this dish is the object of nostalgia for many Chinese immigrants (and their children). Well-seasoned eggs scrambled until just-set combine at the last moment with a sweet-tart ginger-tomato sauce. Serve with lots of steamed rice. When tomatoes are out of season, canned tomatoes in juice work best.

  • Reduce the heat to medium. Give the cornstarch-ketchup mixture a stir in its bowl, then stir it into the pan. Cook, stirring, until the sauce returns to a boil and thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt, sugar or more ketchup — you want a savory, tart-sweet sauce. Stir the eggs in the bowl to cut up the curds a bit, then return them to the pan. Cook, stirring, for a few seconds to finish cooking the eggs and to combine. Top with the reserved scallions, and serve with steamed rice.

    1. Get your frying pan on a medium to low heat and add enough olive oil to lightly coat the bottom of a large nonstick pan (about 1 tablespoon).
    2. Crack the eggs into the pan. As the oil gets hotter you’ll see it start to change the color of the eggs. If the oil starts to spit it’s because it’s too hot, so turn the heat right down. Cook until the tops of the whites are set but the yolk is still runny.
    3. When they’re ready, remove the pan from the heat and take the eggs out using a spatula. Place on a plate and dab them with some paper towels to soak up any excess oil. Serve on toast – no need to butter it – with a sprinkling of the sea salt and freshly ground black pepper.
    4. Delicious served on some 7-grain bread.

TOP SECRET RECIPES | KFC ORIGINAL RECIPE FRIED CHICKEN
One of the most protected, discussed, and sought-after secret recipes in the food world is KFC's Original Recipe Fried Chicken. Long ago I published my first hack of the famous formula, but the recipe, which was based on research from "Big Secrets" author William Poundstone, includes only salt, pepper, MSG, and flour in the breading, and not the blend of eleven herbs and spices we have all heard about. The fried chicken made with my first recipe is good in a pinch, but it really needs several more ingredients to be a true clone. That is why, over twenty years later, I was happy to get another crack at the secret when we shot the pilot episode for my CMT TV series Top Secret Recipe. In the show, I visited KFC headquarters, talked to friends of Harlan Sanders who had seen the actual recipe, and even checked out the Corbin, Kentucky, kitchen where Harland Sanders first developed his chicken recipe. During that four-day shoot I was able to gather enough clues about the secret eleven herbs and spices to craft this new recipe—one that I believe is the closest match to the Colonel's secret fried chicken that anyone has ever revealed.
