FRIED CHEESE BALLS RECIPE - FOOD FANATIC

Fried Cheese Balls Recipe - Food Fanatic image

What’s better than cheese? Fried cheese balls! Only three ingredients in this easy, cheesy appetizer that’s crunchy on the outside while melted and gooey on the inside.

Total Time 15 minutes

Prep Time 10 minutes

Cook Time 5 minutes

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups shredded gouda cheese, (8 ounces)
1 egg, or 2 egg whites
2 tablespoons cornstarch, or all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cracker crumbs, for dredging (optional)
vegetable oil, for frying
your favorite sauce, for dipping

Steps:

  • With an electric mixer or by hand, mix the cheese, egg and cornstarch (or flour) in a large bowl until a soft dough forms. Scoop 2 teaspoons of dough and roll into a ball. If desired, roll balls in cracker crumbs for an extra crispy coating. Refrigerate cheese balls until thoroughly chilled, about 30 minutes. In a medium frying pan, heat oil over high heat (350°F for deep frying). Fry cheese balls until golden brown, turning once, about 30-60 seconds per side. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite sauce for dipping.

FRIED CHEESE BALLS | JUST A PINCH RECIPES

Fried Cheese Balls | Just A Pinch Recipes image

OH WOW! We loved this combo of cheeses even before we deep fried it. Once fried, we served them with both horseradish sauce and marinara. The horseradish was the fave, but these little guys are delicious no matter how you serve them. Enjoy!

8 ounce(s) shredded cheddar
8 ounce(s) cream cheese bar

- all purpose flour
- buttermilk
- panko bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Mix all the above in a large bowl(except the flour, buttermilk and breadcrumbs) till it is smooth, then roll into small meatball sizes Then refrigerate for about an hour.
  • Then take 3 bowls out and put the flour in one bowl, buttermilk in another and then Panko breadcrumbs in the third. Take each ball and roll them in the contents of the bowls - in that same order; set them aside. While doing this you can heat a pot of oil for frying.
  • Take 2-3 balls at a time and fry them for about 1 minute until golden; drain on paper towels.
  • I would serve this with horseradish dipping sauce.
