FRENCH ONION DIP WITH SOUR CREAM RECIPES

Steps:

• Place a medium pan over medium-high heat with 3 turns of the pan of EVOO, about 3 tablespoons
• Add the onion, thyme, some salt and pepper to the pan, and put a lid on it
• Cook the onions, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 10 minutes
• Remove the lid and continue cooking the onions until deep golden brown, about 20 minutes
• (If the onions begin to stick to the pan too much, add a splash of water and scrape up any bits that are sticking
• ) Turn the cooked onions out into a medium mixing bowl and stir in the sour cream and/or Greek yogurt (whatever youre using)
• Serve the dip up with chopped veggies and crackers alongside

Steps:

• Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add the onions and 1/4 teaspoon of kosher salt. Cook and stir until the onions are caramelized to a nice golden brown, about 20 minutes. Remove the onions from the heat and cool.
• Mix together the sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, white pepper, and remaining kosher salt. Stir in the onions when they are cool. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 2 hours before serving.
