Quick and Easy French Toast for Two Recipe - Food.com image

This is the perfect recipe if you are craving a sweet and simple weekend breakfast. Only using six ingredients to make the French Toast, its cinnamon sweet taste pairs very well with syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruits. My whole family loved it, and I hope you will love it too! Enjoy!

Total Time 40 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes

Yield 4 large slices, 2-3 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 large egg
2/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon brown sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 tablespoon coconut oil
4 slices bread
2 teaspoons powdered sugar (optional)
1/4 cup syrup (optional)
1/2 cup banana (optional)
1/2 cup strawberry (optional)

Steps:

  • In a large shallow bowl, whisk the egg and milk until slightly frothy.
  • Mix in the brown sugar, then follow with the cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Place a piece of bread into the mixture and allow it to soak on each side. While the bread is soaking, heat the oil in a nonstick pan.
  • After 30 seconds on each side in the egg mixture, place the bread into the pan and cook evenly on both sides, until golden to dark brown on each side and the egg mixture does not run from the toast when pressed.
  • Repeat steps 3-4 for all your slices of bread or until the mixture runs out.
  • If desired, serve your French Toast warm and cut into trangles with the maple syrup, powered sugar, and fruit. Enjoy!

FRENCH TOAST FOR TWO RECIPE BY TASTY

French Toast For Two Recipe by Tasty image

Treat yourself and your bestie to a breakfast favorite! Topped with a crunchy walnut streusel and mouth-watering maple syrup, this French toast recipe puts the fun in Sunday Funday.

Provided by Betsy Carter

Total Time 28 minutes

Prep Time 20 minutes

Cook Time 8 minutes

Yield 2 servings

Number Of Ingredients 18

¼ cup all purpose flour
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, lightly packed
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed and chilled
¼ cup walnuts, chopped
2 large eggs
¼ cup whole milk
¼ cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 tablespoons dark brown sugar, lightly packed
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
½ teaspoon kosher salt
4 slices brioche bread, 3/4 in (2 cm)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
¼ cup maple syrup

Steps:

  • Make the walnut streusel: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with a nonstick mat.
  • In a medium bowl, combine the flour, granulated and brown sugars, salt, and cinnamon. Work the butter into the dry ingredients with a fork until crumbly. Add the chopped walnuts and mix well.
  • Spread the streusel on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes, stirring halfway, until golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly, then crumble and let cool completely before using. The streusel will keep in an airtight container for 1 week.
  • Make the French toast: In a large baking dish, beat the eggs, then add the milk, cream, vanilla, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt and whisk well to combine.
  • Add the bread in a single layer and press down gently into the custard. Let soak for 5 minutes, then flip and soak for another 10 minutes.
  • Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. When the foaming subsides, carefully transfer 2 slices of bread from the custard to the pan and cook until golden brown, about 2 minutes per side. Repeat with remaining butter and soaked bread.
  • Top the French toast with the walnut streusel and maple syrup.
  • Enjoy!
