cream cheese, softened to room temperature

1 c.

shredded Monterey Jack cheese

1 c.

shredded Cheddar cheese

1/4 c.

sliced green onion

1/2 tsp.

garlic powder

1 tbsp.

Hot sauce

kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

slices of bacon, cooked and chopped

1/3 c.

Crushed Pretzels

1

slice mozzarella or white cheddar cheese

Potato chips, for serving

Crackers, for serving

Steps:

  • Combine cream cheese, monterey jack. cheddar, about 2 tablespoons of green onion, garlic powder and hot sauce in a large bowl. Season with salt and pepper. Beat with a hand mixer until evenly mixed and fluffy. Transfer cream cheese mixture to your serving platter and form cream cheese mixture into a football shape. Press crushed pretzels, remaining green onion and cooked bacon onto all sides of the football cheeseball. If the mixture is too thick, refrigerate for 30 minutes to 1 hour, or until it keeps it shape. Cut the slice of mozzarella into strips to create the laces. You'll need one long strip and 3-5 smaller pieces. Top the football cheeseball with mozzarella laces and serve with crackers and chips.

Two 8-ounce bricks cream cheese
softened
1 cup sharp yellow cheddar cheese
shredded
1 cup Monterey or Pepper Jack cheese
2 teaspoons granulated onion
2 teaspoons granulated garlic
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
One 4-ounce jar chopped pimento
drained well
½ cup chopped scallions
Frank’s RedHot hot sauce
to taste
1 tablespoon ground cumin
1 tablespoon ground coriander
1 tablespoon ground pimenton/smoked paprika
2 tablespoons chili powder
A few slices white American cheese
Pretzel chips
Red pepper strips
Celery sticks
Tortilla chips
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • Combine the cheeses, onion, garlic, Worcestershire, pimento, scallions and hot sauce and place on plastic wrap
  • Form a football shape and wrap and chill
  • Mix spices for coating and sprinkle an even layer over the football
  • Slice the American cheese into strips and create "stripes" on ends of the ball and "laces
  • " Surround the cheese ball with pretzel chips, peppers and celery, chips or crackers
