Brandied Candied Sweet Potatoes Recipe | Allrecipes image

This has been a Thanksgiving favorite of ours for many years because it is different from the many mashed sweet potatoes recipes.

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 pounds sweet potatoes, peeled and diced
½ cup butter
½ cup packed brown sugar
½ cup brandy
½ teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place sweet potatoes in a large saucepan with enough water to cover. Bring to a boil. Cook 15 minutes, or until tender but firm. Drain, and set aside.
  • In a large skillet over low heat, melt the butter. Stir in the brown sugar, brandy, and salt. Add the sweet potatoes, and stir to coat. Cook, stirring gently, until sweet potatoes are heated through and well glazed.

sweet potato

Kosher salt

Freshly ground black pepper

small pat butter

Steps:

  • Wash sweet potato thoroughly, pat dry, and pierce 3-4 times with a fork. Place potato on microwave-safe plate and microwave 5 minutes, turning halfway through.  If your potato isn’t fork tender after 5 minutes, continue microwaving in 30 second increments. Split potato down the middle, season with salt and pepper and top with a pat of butter.

It's a delicious filet mignon that comes to your table sizzling hot and so tender you can cut it with a fork. If you want to prepare filets the Ruth's Chris way you first need some prime corn-fed filets, which can be found in specialty meat markets or Costco.
