This came from Taste of Home's Quick Cooking and is much better than anything I've created on my own. The sauce is thick and gooy and goes well with so many things.

Yield 1 1/2 cup

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 cup pineapple juice
1/3 cup water
3 tablespoons vinegar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • Combine all ingredients in a sauce pan.
  • Cook over medium heat until thick, stirring constantly.
  • Pour over chicken, meatballs, smoked sausage, veggies, etc.

We gave it a grown-up makeover, and the results are even tastier than the original, without any junky preservatives. Tasty on nearly everything, it’s especially nice on tofu or as a quick starter for a vinaigrette.

Yield Serves 6 (serving size: about 1 1/2 tbsp.)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 tablespoons unsalted ketchup
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon grated sweet onion
1 1/2 teaspoons Asian chili-garlic sauce
1 teaspoon lower-sodium soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Whisk together unsalted ketchup, apple cider vinegar, olive oil, honey, grated sweet onion, Asian chili-garlic sauce, lower-sodium soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and paprika in a small bowl. Serve immediately, or store covered in refrigerator up to 3 days.
