A tangy plum dessert I've made for years to make use of all that midsummer fruit from my tree. Try it with vanilla ice cream. It's a favorite with or without!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease an 8x8-inch baking dish.
- Spread the plums out into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle with 1/4 cup sugar. In a bowl, mix together 3/4 cup white sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. Combine with beaten egg and spoon the mixture over the plums. Drizzle batter with melted butter.
- Bake in the preheated oven until the topping is brown, about 40 minutes.

- In a large bowl, combine the plums, brown sugar, 3 tablespoons flour and cinnamon. Spoon into a greased 2-qt. baking dish. , In a small bowl, combine the sugar, baking powder, salt, mace and remaining flour. Add egg; stir with a fork until crumbly. Sprinkle over plum mixture. Drizzle with butter. , Bake at 375° for 40-45 minutes or until plums are tender and top is golden brown. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. Serve warm or at room temperature.

- Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. In shallow 2-quart glass or ceramic baking dish, toss plums with lemon juice. In cup, mix cornstarch and 1/3 cup sugar; toss with plums until evenly coated. In medium bowl, mix remaining 1/3 cup sugar with oats, flour, and cinnamon. With fingertips, blend in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle oat topping over plum mixture. Bake crumble 25 to 30 minutes or until plums are tender and topping is lightly browned. Cool on wire rack 10 minutes to serve warm, or cool completely to serve later. Reheat if desired.
