This easy hot apple cider can be made on the stove or in a slow cooker.

Steps:
- Combine all of the ingredients except the cinnamon sticks for garnish in a large saucepan or in a slow cooker.
- If using the stove, heat for 5 minutes over medium heat. You can reduce the heat and let it simmer for 15-20 minutes for more flavor. Strain out the spices and serve immediately.
- If using a slow cooker, let cook for 2-3 hours on low. Strain out the spices and serve immediately or turn to warm and let sit.

- Place the cinnamon sticks, ground cloves, allspice berries, orange peel and lemon peel in a medium saucepan. Pour in the maple syrup and apple juice, then bring to almost a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve in mugs with apple slices and orange twists for garnish. Add a splash of rum for an adults-only version!
