SPIDERWEB CAKE RECIPE | REAL SIMPLE
This impressive-looking cake doesn't take much to master—all you'll need is a store-bought cake, a tub of white frosting, and a few drops of black food coloring. No pastry bag? No problem! Simply scoop the frosting into a plastic bag, then snip a small hole in the corner of the bag. The intricate design is merely a series of connected lines, which we've explained in detail below. We guarantee the cake will be all the talk at your Halloween party, even when displayed amongst other spooky snacks. After all, dessert always steals the show.

Steps:
- Combine the frosting and food coloring in a small bowl. Transfer the mixture to a pastry bag or plastic bag (snip a small hole in the corner of the bag).
- Starting from the center of the cake draw nine lines with the frosting clockwise around the top to the edge. Connect the end of each line to the line next to it with an arched line. Move 1 inch towards the center and draw another series of arcs between the lines. Repeat two more times.
- Pipe a small dot of icing for the head of the spider and a larger dot touching it for the body. Pipe four legs on each side of the body. Repeat as desired.
SPIDER WEB CAKE RECIPE | LAND O’LAKES
Steps:
- Heat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour 13x9-inch baking pan; set aside.
- Combine cake mix, melted butter, 1 1/4 cups water and eggs in bowl. Beat according to package directions to make marbled effect. Bake 29-32 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely, at least 1 hour.
- Poke holes, 1-inch deep and every 2 inches, in cake with meat fork or wooden skewer.
- Dissolve gelatin in boiling water; stir in cold water. Slowly pour warm gelatin mixture over cake. Refrigerate 2-3 hours or until chilled .
- Combine all frosting ingredients in bowl. Beat at low speed until moistened. Increase speed to high; beat until creamy. Spread frosting over cake.
- Place 12 nonpareils candies on outer edge of cake. Draw a spider web design on frosting with toothpick, ending lines at each nonpareil candy.
- Pipe decorating gel over toothpick design to make spider web. Decorate with swirled chocolate chips and plastic spiders, if desired.
