Dahi Sev Puri is a summer season food, an appetizer, Indian street food that no one can resist! Soft boil potatoes, sweet curd, tangy chutneys, crispy sev, nutty boiled chana, and fresh flavors of raw onion, tomatoes, and coriander gives the dish a delectable taste.Yes! When it comes to Indian snacks, it definitely hits the top of the charts. Filled with boiled potatoes, chutneys (Indian homemade sauces), chilled and beaten yogurt/curd, and topped with nylon sev (fried thin gram flour vermicelli), pomegranate, boiled chana, and coriander. It is a tangy, spicy, sweet, and crispy chaat with flavors and textures bursting in the mouth.Although it needs a lot of preparation and it quickly disappears in parties if kept as appetizers. One can prepare the chutneys a day before. Puri’s can be bought ready-made or made at home. Puri’s have a long shelf life and can be kept for 8-10 days.

1 cup sooji
¼ tsp salt
3 Tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 tsp oil
¼ cup water
Pinch of baking soda
Oil for frying
½ Cup Mint leaves
½ cup coriander leaves
2 small cloves of garlic
1 inch of ginger
1 tsp. sugar (optional)
½ lemon juice
1 green chili
¼ cup seedless tamarind
1 cup water
½ tsp. cumin seeds
½ tsp. Dry ginger powder
¼ cup sugar or jaggery
Rock salt as required
1 large boiled potato
1 tsp. Chaat masala
½ tsp. Red chili powder
1 tbsp. Boiled chana (optional)
1 cup whipped curd/ yogurt
1 small chopped onion
1 to mato chopped
1 tbsp. Salted boondi (crispy Indian Snack (Optional))
1 tbsp. Pomegranate seeds
Few coriander leaves
Chaat masala for sprinkling
1 tbsp. Nylon sev or bhujia

Steps:

  • Break the puri from the top. You can hold the puri in your hand and break it with your thumb.
  • Fill the puris with a mashed potatoes mixture.
  • Pour the yogurt inside each puri.
  • Fill it with both the chutneys.
  • Garnish it with chopped onion, tomatoes, boondi, and coriander leaves
  • Sprinkle some chaat masala.
  • Your mouth-watering Dahi sev puri is ready! Eat it before it turns soggy.
