Slow Cooker Dr Pepper Pulled Pork — Let's Dish Recipes image

Pork roast is cooked in Dr Pepper and seasonings until tender, then shredded and served on crusty buns. Easy and delicious, it's a great way to feed a crowd or just a hungry family.

1 (3-4 lb) pork roast
1 tablespoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 (12 oz.) can Dr Pepper
1 cup barbecue sauce
Rolls or sandwich buns, for serving

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine paprika, pepper, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder and salt. Rub over pork roast.
  • In a lightly greased slow cooker, whisk together Dr Pepper and barbecue sauce. Place roast in slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours.
  • Remove roast from slow cooker and shred with two forks. Return to slow cooker and toss with cooking liquid (if there is too much liquid, remove some before returning the roast to the slow cooker).
  • Serve shredded pork on sandwich buns with additional barbecue sauce, if desired.

1- 4 pound boneless pork tenderloin
1 ½ cups Dr Pepper soda
3 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups barbecue sauce, or to taste

Steps:

  • Prepare the slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray.
  • Place the tenderloin in the bottom of the slow cooker. 
  • Pour the soda over the top, then sprinkle garlic and black pepper over top.
  • Cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or until the tenderloin is fork tender.
  • Discard the remaining liquid. 
  • Shred the pork and stir in the barbecue sauce. Add 1 cup at a time, up to 2 cups, until it's as saucy as your prefer. 
  • Allow the shredded pork to simmer in the slow cooker for an additional 30 minutes prior to serving.
  • Serve on buns, over baked potatoes, or alone.
