2 teaspoons sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
1/2 teaspoons fennel seed
1/4 teaspoons pepper
1 (15 oz) container ricotta cheese
1 egg beaten
1 tablespoon parsley flakes (or 2 teaspoons fresh minced parsley)
1/2 teaspoons salt
4 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Pour 1 1/3 cups sauce in bottom of 9 x 13-inch dish, then a layer of pasta strips, 1/2 of the ricotta cheese mixture, mozzarella and sausage and another layer of pasta strips. Repeat layers ending with final 1 1/3 of sauce. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese. 6. Cover with aluminum foil and bake 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake for 15 minutes.
