My favorite sugar cookie recipe! I used 1/2 tsp. almond extract and spooned the dough out using a small cookie scoop. These are delectable!

Yield 3-4 dozen, 36 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 9

3/4 cup margarine
1/4 cup cream cheese (4 oz)
1 1/4 cups white sugar
3 large egg yolks
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon almond extract (may increase to 1 tsp.)
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350.
  • Cream together butter, cream cheese and sugar.
  • Beat in egg yolks, vanilla and almond extracts.
  • Add flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Stir well.
  • Drop by rounded teaspoonsful onto ungreased cookie sheet. Sprinkle with sugar. Don't flatten. (I use parchment paper.).
  • Bake 12 to 14 minutes until tops are cracked and just turning light brown.
  • Cool for one minute on cookie sheet before transferring to rack or waxed paper to cool completely.

These wonderful cinnamon-sugar cookies became very popular with my friends at church. My pastor loves them! You will too! Crispy edges, and chewy centers; these cookies are a crowd pleaser for sure!

½ cup butter, softened
½ cup shortening
1?½ cups white sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2?¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons white sugar
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
  • Cream together butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar, eggs, and vanilla. Blend in flour, cream of tartar, soda, and salt. Shape dough by rounded spoonfuls into balls.
  • Mix 2 tablespoons sugar and cinnamon together. Roll balls of dough in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Bake 8 to 10 minutes, or until set but not too hard. Remove immediately from baking sheets.
