A chipotle pepper is a dried, smoked jalapeno pepper. This sweet and smoky barbecue sauce is great on grilled chicken.

Provided by Jamie Geller Test Kitchens

Yield 3 cups

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 teaspoons chopped fresh ginger
1/2 cup chopped white or yellow onion
1 clove garlic
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup tomato ketchup
1 cup cranberry sauce
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons chipotle (smoked jalapeno chili) powder
1 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
1/4 cup fresh lime juice

Steps:

  • 1. In a medium sauté pan over medium-high heat, sauté ginger, onions and garlic in olive oil until tender but not browned. 2. Combine remaining ingredients in food processor or blender with ginger-onion-garlic mixture. Process until smooth.  3. Refrigerate until ready to use. Source: uscranberries

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 can Farmers Market Organic Cranberry Sauce
1, 3.5 oz can Chipotle peppers in Adobo sauce
1/2 large Yellow Onion (diced)
2 cups water
1 cup apple cider vinegar
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup ketchup
1/4. cup Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoon dry mustard
2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
3/4 teaspoon Fresh Cracked Black Pepper

Steps:

  • In a 4-quart heavy bottomed dutch oven, combine all the ingredients and bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  • Simmer for 10-15 minutes over medium-low heat.
  • Using an immersion blender, blend the sauce until smooth. Alternatively allow the sauce to cool for about 10 minutes then blend in a conventional blender.
  • Allow the sauce to cool to room temp.
  • Place in an airtight container and store in the fridge until you're ready to use.
  • Will keep in the fridge for 7-10 days or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
  • Use the sauce to glaze chicken, ribs, to sauce brisket or as a pizza sauce.
