Yield 1 - 8 inch layer cake

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup white sugar
½ cup butter, softened
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9 inch round pan.
  • Place flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, butter or margarine, eggs, vanilla, and milk into mixing bowl. Beat slowly to moisten, then beat with an electric mixer at medium speed for about 2 minutes until smooth. Reserve 3/4 cup batter; pour the remainder into pan.
  • Stir cocoa into the 3/4 cup reserved batter. Drop by spoonfuls over top of white batter. Using a knife, swirl the cocoa batter into the white batter to incorporate it in a marble effect.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, until an inserted wooden pick comes out clean.

350 g All purpose flour (Maida)
300 g Powdered sugar
250 g Butter
3 nos Eggs
4 ½ Baking powder
2 drops Vanilla essence
1/4 tsp Red food color
2 tbsp Cocoa powder

Steps:

  • For preparing tri-color marble cake, first whisk together butter and powdered sugar in a bowl.
  • Add beaten egg to it and whisk again.
  • Sieve baking powder and flour in another bowl and fold it with the whisked mixture.
  • Add milk and vanilla essence to it and mix well.
  • Now divide this mixture into three equal portions.
  • Mix cocoa powder with 2-3 tbsp of milk and blend it with one portion of the divided mixture.
  • Blend the red food color with another portion of the cake mixture.
  • Now coat a baking tray with butter and pour the red colored cake mixture first in the tray, then the plain cake mixture and finally the cocoa powder mixture on the top.
  • Take a toothpick and simply draw lines in the cake(use your creativity here, you can line it randomly or spirally..it¦s up to you).
  • Bake it for 1 hour in 160c. Tri-color marble cake is ready.

In a microwave, melt chocolate chips; stir until smooth. Cool slightly., Place 1 cake layer on a serving plate; spread with 1/2 cup frosting. Repeat layers. Top with remaining cake layer. Frost top and sides of cake., Drop cooled chocolate by 1/2 teaspoonfuls over frosting. Using a large offset spatula, smear chocolate to create a marble design in frosting.
