Coffee Cone Affogato | Better Homes & Gardens image

This cute dessert recipe packs a caffeine pick-me-up! A mini ice cream cone lined with chocolate for extra yum, filled with two of your favorites--ice cream and coffee--is a perfect mid-day wake up treat or dessert (use decaf if it's late).

6 - 8 ounce semisweet chocolate, melted
6 miniature flat-bottom ice cream cones
Finely chopped or ground nuts, such as hazelnuts or almonds (optional)
6 small scoops vanilla ice cream
1 cup hot espresso or strong brewed coffee

Steps:

  • Spoon melted chocolate into each cone and carefully coat the inside using the back of a spoon. Dip outer rims of cones into remaining melted chocolate, about 1/2-inch deep. Allow excess to drip back into the bowl. If desired, dip cone rims into nuts. Place on a wax paper-lined baking sheet and freeze about 15 minutes or until chocolate is set.
  • Spoon a very small scoop of ice cream into each cone. Pour hot espresso over each ice cream scoop and serve immediately.

8 Eggs
8 ounces Egg white
1 1/4 cups whole milk
1 tablespoon Vanilla extract
8 cups flour
6 cups sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 cup butter

Steps:

  • "Batter: Whisk the eggs in a large bowl with the vanilla, butter, and milk. Combine sugar, flour, nutmeg, and cinnamon in a separate bowl. Mix well. Slowly add the dry mixture to the eggs and whisk as you go. Cooking: Place 3 tablespoons batter on waffle cone machine set on 3-4 and cook for approximately 90 seconds. Temperature and time depend on machine and personal preference. Place cooked waffle on dry area and use waffle cone roller to make cone shapes or place over the bottom of a bowl to make waffle bowls.
