Bruschetta: the classic Italian appetizer recipe for a ... image

Bruschetta (pronounced "brusketta") is an easy Italian appetizer recipe. It is basically a toasted bread slice that's topped with diced fresh tomatoes, garlic, basil, vinegar and oil.

Total Time 40 minutes

Yield 10

Number Of Ingredients 9

Tomatoes, diced, 6 to 7
Garlic, minced, 2 cloves
Extra virgin olive oil, 1 tbsp
fresh basil leaves, thinly sliced or chopped, 6 to 8
Sea salt, 3/4 tsp
Freshly ground black pepper, 1/2 tsp
baguette or Italian bread, sliced 1/4-inch thick, 1
Extra virgin olive oil, 1/4 cup, plus extra for serving
Balsamic vinegar, 1 tsp

Steps:

  • In a bowl, add the chopped tomatoes, basil, garlic, balsamic vinegar, oil, salt and pepper.
  • Mix until combined and let it marinate for 30 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, preheat oven to 400°F. Brush bread slices on both sides with oil. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Toast bread for up to 15 minutes or until golden brown, flipping each slice halfway cooking.
  • Let the bread cool for 5 minutes, then rub one side with halved garlic clove.
  • Top each toasted bread slice with the tomato topping. Serve and enjoy!
