I took this recipe from Good Food Cakes, Bakes and Chocolate. They are very rich and never stay in my house for long. They will keep for up to a week wrapped in foil. Cooking time is actually chilling time.

Number Of Ingredients 6

200 g digestive biscuits, crushed into uneven crumbs
100 g butter, plus extra for greasing
3 tablespoons golden syrup
2 tablespoons cocoa powder
50 g raisins
100 g dark chocolate

Steps:

  • Butter a 18cm / 7in sandwich tin.
  • Melt the butter and syrup in a pan.
  • Stir in the cocoa and raisins, then thoroughly stir in the biscuit crumbs.
  • Spoon into the tin and press down firmly.
  • Melt the chocolate in a bowl over a pan of simmering water and spread over the biscuit base.
  • Chill for about half an hour.

2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
2 cups butterscotch chips
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 cups chow mein noodles

Steps:

  • In the top of a double boiler over simmering water, melt chips and vanilla; stir until smooth. Fold in noodles. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto waxed paper. Chill.

  • Preheat your oven to 180°C.Grease a 20cm square baking tin and line with baking paper. Combine the oats, flour, coconut and cocoa in a bowl.Place the butter, golden syrup and sugar in a small saucepan. Stir over a medium heat until the butter has melted and the ingredients are combined. Add the bicarb and stir well.Pour the melted butter mixture over the dry ingredients and mix well to combine.  Scrape the mixture into the baking tin and use a spatula (or your hands if it is not too hot) to gently flatten into an even layer.Bake the crunchies for 20 minutes. They will be soft but will harden on cooling. Set the tin aside until the crunchies are completely cool.To make the icing: sift the icing sugar and cocoa into a bowl. Melt the butter and add along with the vanilla extract and hot water. Stir to make a thick icing and spread over the cool crunchies.
