Chinese Mustard Green Rice | Asian Inspirations image

Cooked in a wok and a rice cooker, this Chinese Mustard Green Rice combines the vegetable with dried shrimp and pork. For a fluffy and flavoursome bowl, try it now!

2 tbsp light soy sauce
1 tbsp oyster sauce
½ tbsp dark soy sauce
3 cups rice (uncooked, washed and rinsed)
725g roasted pork (cut into small pieces)
4 garlic cloves (minced)
½ cup small dried shrimp (rinsed, soaked till softened and minced)
1 bunch of mustard greens (kai choy; roughly chopped)
Green onions (to garnish; thinly sliced)
Oil (to cook)
Water
White pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • To Prepare Heat up a wok and add some cooking oil. Add 2 minced garlic cloves to the wok. Stir-fry the garlic until it is aromatic. Add the Chinese mustard greens and fry until it is partially cooked. Set aside. Add some more cooking oil to the wok. Stir-fry the dried shrimp and 2 minced garlic cloves in the wok until it is fragrant. Add the pork and fry for 2-3 mins. Add the uncooked rice into the wok for about 1 min. Add the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce and pepper. Combine the ingredients. Transfer the wok mixture to a rice cooker. Add a suitable amount of water and start the rice cooker. Once it starts to boil, add the fried mustard greens and garlic. When the rice cooker indicates that your food is done cooking, check on the rice. Add more water if it is a bit dry. Serve out the portions and garnish with the green onions.

2 trees of mustard green ( , remove the heads and cut into sections)
2 garlic cloves ( , finely chopped)
1 Thai Chili pepper ( , finely chopped (optional))
1 tablespoon cooking oil
Salt as needed

Steps:

  • In a large pot with boiling water, add several drops of cooking oil and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Blanch washed mustard greens around tough part for 10 seconds and leaves for 2 ~3 seconds.
  • Transfer out and soaked the blended mustard green in cold water for around 10 minutes. Move out and drain.
  • Heat up cooking oil in wok, add garlic and chopped chili pepper, and stir the blended mustard green quickly with salt. Mix well.
  • Transfer out and serving with steamed rice or other staple food your like.
