This chow mein recipe will help you make an almost authentic recreation of this traditional Chinese noodle dish. The best part is it's done in 20 minutes.

Number Of Ingredients 10

2 tbsp canola oil
¼ thinly sliced cabbage head
2 crushed and minced garlic cloves
2 tbsp aka Kecap Manis Sweet Soy Sauce
2 tbsp soy sauce
4 tbsp oyster sauce
1 cup water
12 oz cooked a minute shy of the directions chow mein noodles
6 oz optional Bean Sprouts
for garnish, optional Sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Heat a large pan or wok on high heat.
  • Add 2 tablespoons of canola oil to the pan and cook the cabbage.
  • Cook 2 to 3 minutes until wilted, then add the garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  • Add the soy sauce, sweet soy sauce, oyster sauce and water and bring to a boil for 1 minute.
  • Add in the noodles and bean sprouts and toss to coat.
  • Serve immediately

Steps:

  • In a medium saucepan, melt butterscotch chips over low heat, stirring constantly. Stir in chow mein noodles and peanuts.
  • Drop by teaspoonfuls onto foil. Let stand until cool.
