Number Of Ingredients 25

500 Gms Boneless Fish Cubes
1-2 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tsp Turmeric Powder
1 tbsp Kashmiri chilli powder
1 tsp Pepper Powder
1 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
2 tbsp Curd
4 tbsp all-purpose flour
2 tbsp Cornflour
Oil (for deep frying)
Salt (to taste)
1 tbsp Oil
4 garlic cloves
1 Onion (chopped)
1 Capsicum (chopped)
4 Green Chillies (chopped)
2 tbsp Green Chilli sauce
2 tbsp Tomato ketchup
2 tsp soya sauce
1 tsp Vinegar
Salt (to taste)
1 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Chilli Powder
½ cup Water
1 tsp Black pepper powder

Steps:

  • Mix all ingredients listed under marinade well. Add the fish and marinate for about 30 minutes. Coat the marinated fish in cornflour. Deep fry the fish until golden brown. Drain and set aside.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add garlic, onions, capsicum, chillies and sauté for 2 mins. Add in the tomatoes and mix well. Then add the green chilli sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, ketchup along with red chilli powder, salt and sugar. Stir thoroughly until everything is mixed well. Add water and bring it to a boil.
  • Once the mixture boils, add the fried fish and black pepper powder. Stir well. Do not overcook it, as the fish will harden.
  • Garnish with chopped spring onion leaves. Serve hot as a starter with Noodles or Soup.

2 red chillies , deseeded and chopped
2 shallots , chopped
1 garlic clove , chopped
1 lemongrass , outer leaves removed, chopped
small knob ginger peeled and chopped
2 tsp soy sauce
pinch sugar
2 tbsp vegetable oil
2 fillets lemon sole , about 120g each
chives and coriander, to serve

Steps:

  • Make a paste by blending together the chillies, shallots, garlic, lemongrass, ginger, soy sauce and sugar in a blender or coffee grinder, or use a pestle and mortar. Heat the oil in a small frying pan and cook the paste for 2 mins until it has darkened slightly and you can really smell the spices. Season with a little salt if you like, then set aside.
  • Heat the grill to medium. Put the fish onto a grill pan, then use the back of a teaspoon to smear the paste all over, making a thin layer covering the whole fish. Pop under the grill and cook for 10 mins until the fish flakes easily. Serve with rice and steamed bok choy. Sprinkle chives and coriander on the fish to serve, if you like.
