EASY CHILI SIZE RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Easy Chili Size Recipe - Food.com image

This is one of my kids' favorite meals...and good thing too, it's soooo easy!!! We like chili with beans. And I like mine with a little ketchup! hehe

Total Time 25 minutes

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 20 minutes

Yield 4-6 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 lbs lean ground beef
3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon steak seasoning (or combination of your favorites)
2 (16 ounce) cans chili (with or without beans)
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
1/4 cup chopped onion

Steps:

  • Mix ground beef with worcestershire and steak seasoning.
  • Form meat into 6 patties.
  • Heat skillet to medium high, and fry patties until browned on both sides.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Add both cans of chili to skillet and stir to incorporate all browned bits. If the chili is a little thick, you may thin it with water.
  • Add patties back to skillet, and turn to coat with chili.
  • Lower heat to medium, and cook until patties are to desired doneness.
  • Serve each patty with some chili, a sprinkling of cheddar, and onions (none for my boys!).
  • You could also add diced jalapenos if you desire.

HAMBURGER SIZE (AKA CHILI SIZE) RECIPE - FOOD.COM

Hamburger Size (aka Chili Size) Recipe - Food.com image

Back during the 50's in Southern California, this was a very popular dish in small "Mom and Pop" diners. It doesn't appear on menus anymore, but it is still a solid comfort food for a chilly evening. Wash it down with ice cold beer.

Total Time 40 minutes

Prep Time 15 minutes

Cook Time 25 minutes

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 hamburger buns
1 lb ground turkey or 1 lb ground beef
2 (15 ounce) cans chili (I like Dennison's fatfree turkey chili)
1 small onion, coarsely chopped
3/4 cup canned jalapeno slices
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Spread butter on the open faces of the buns, sprinkle them with garlic powder and black pepper, then fry them on a griddle if you have one, or in a skillet, until toasty brown.
  • Mold the meat into patties then cook them thoroughly.
  • Heat the chili.
  • I use a microwave.
  • Depending on your taste, you might wish to muscle up the chili a bit with some hot sauce.
  • Plate it up by placing the buns, face up, on the plate.
  • Put the meat patty on the bun, smother it with a generous amount of chili, sprinkle some cheese over the chili, scatter onions and nacho slices on top of everything.
  • Dig in!
