A really good chili sauce like I had as a kid. This took me many years to get the ingredients just right. Hope you enjoy.

Steps:
- Place ground beef in a large saucepan with water and mash the beef with a potato masher to break apart. Stir in tomato sauce, ketchup, chili powder, salt, black pepper, sugar, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a boil and cook over medium heat until the chili has thickened slightly and the beef is fully cooked, about 20 minutes.

- Preheat oven to 375°. Roll out crescent dough and pinch the perforations together to seal. Cut into 8 even squares. Sprinkle cheddar on each square and roll around hot dogs. Spread chili in an even layer on the bottom of a 9"-x-13" baking dish. Place hot dogs in a row side by side on top of chili. In a small bowl combine melted butter with onion powder and chives. Brush over hot dogs and place in the oven to bake for 30 minutes, covering with foil if the crescent dough begins to get too dark. Top with more chives and serve.

Add the sliced hot dogs and cook for another 1 to 2 minutes until brown. Stir in the onion and garlic and cook until softened, another 1 to 2 minutes longer. Add the tomato paste, spices, salt and pepper and cook for about 30 seconds to develop their flavors. Stir in the broth, diced tomatoes, pinto beans, tomato sauce and sugar and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook, stirring often, until the chili has thickened, about 20 to 25 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375°F.Remove from the heat and then carefully place the tater tots on top of the chili, in a single layer. Melt the remaining 4 tablespoons of butter and drizzle over the tots. Bake until the top is golden brown, about 25 to 30 minutes. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Top with the cheese, diced onion and scallions right before serving.

- Preheat oven to 350°. In a small saucepan, melt butter. Stir in the flour, salt and pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened and bubbly, 2 minutes. , In a greased 2-1/2-qt. baking dish, layer with a third of the potatoes, half of the hot dogs and half of the onion. Repeat layers. Top with remaining potatoes. Pour white sauce over all., Bake, covered, for 1 hour. Uncover; sprinkle with cheese. Bake until potatoes are tender, 10-15 minutes longer.
