Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375º. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Drizzle oil all over chicken and generously coat with seasoning mixture, shaking off excess. Scatter lemon slices in baking dish then place chicken on top.

3 tablespoons olive oil, halved

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  • Heat a skillet over medium high heat. Drizzle the chicken breast with 1/2 of the oil, and then season the breast with a good crust of salt and pepper. Put chicken in the pan skin side down, then add the herbs, and garlic. When the skin has a nice golden color turn it over, and put in a preheated oven for 8 minutes or until juice runs clear.

Cooking moist and juicy chicken breast in air fryer, in matter of minutes, is one of the Top reason why I use my air fryer every day. For this recipe, I marinate chicken breast (boneless and skinless) in Greek style marinate of lemon, herbs and garlic. That's it. Once marinated, cook chicken in air fryer. Read on to know more tips and details.

What Do You Need to Make Moist Chicken Breast in Air Fryer?

Ingredients to make moist chicken breast in air fryer are easy to find pantry staples. Here is what you need to make marinate for chicken: 

  1. Olive oil
  2. Lemon Juice
  3. Garlic
  4. Herbs - Oregano & Cumin
  5. Paprika
  6. Salt and Pepper

Marinade helps to tenderize chicken and infuse with delicious herb, garlic and lemon flavor. 

Marinated Chicken Breast for Cooking in Air Fryer

To make chicken in air fryer, I start with marinating the chicken. Either leave chicken in marinade to marinate for at-least 20-30 minutes or refrigerate until ready to use (up-to overnight)

Cooking Moist Chicken Breast in Air Fryer

My experience with air fryer has taught me three important things to note while cooking perfectly moist chicken breast in air fryer. i.e. 

  1. Preheat Air Fryer - This ensures even cooking from the start. Chicken cook golden browns from outside and juicy inside.
  2. Adjust the timings as per the side/make and model of air fryer. (more on this ahead)
  3. Flip Chicken Breast half way through cooking. This ensure that chicken cooks evenly. Also gives good idea of how long it will take to chicken to be fully done. (very important to avoid dry chicken breast)

Cooking Chicken Breast in Air Fryer

I used Ninja Foodi Max XL Air Fryer (5.5 quart) and cooked boneless skinless chicken breast for this recipe. As shown in pictures above, process of cooking is very simple:

  1. Marinate Chicken Breast for at-least 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat air fryer and place marinated breast on air fryer rack. Cook 5 minutes.
  3. Flip after 5 minutes and add seasoned beans.
  4. Cook additional five minutes or until chicken is cooked through. If cooking beans, make sure to stir twice (every 2 mins) for even cooking. 

Air Fryer Timings for Cooking Chicken Breast

Time to cook chicken breast in air fryer vary based on two things:

  1. Size of Chicken Breast. For example, when air fried at 375 degrees Fahrenheit, smaller chicken breasts will be ready in 10 minutes where as large chicken breasts will take 12-14 minutes.
  2. Size of Air Fryer.  For example, if an air fryer is bigger in size (i.e. more space to circulate hot air), it will cook faster than smaller. So to ensure proper cooking, always preheat air fryer for 3 minutes. After first 5 minutes of cooking, flip chicken and then cook 5 minutes, then on keep an eye and check every 2 minutes for doneness. 

Air Fryer Moist Chicken Breast Boneless No Breading

Air fryer makes cooking fun and fast! I've been using it more than my pressure cooker. (which says a lot) If you are still thinking to buy an air fryer, I can tell you that it's a worth investment. The time I've saved by cooking dinner in air fryer has already paid off my investment (plus few folds).

    1. Remove the chicken from the fridge 30 minutes before you want to cook it, to let it come up to room temperature.
    2. Preheat the oven to 240°C/475°F/gas 9.
    3. Wash and roughly chop the vegetables – there’s no need to peel them. Break the garlic bulb into cloves, leaving them unpeeled.
    4. Pile all the veg, garlic and herbs into the middle of a large roasting tray and drizzle with oil.
    5. Drizzle the chicken with oil and season well with sea salt and black pepper, then rub all over the bird. Place the chicken on top of the vegetables.
    6. Carefully prick the lemon all over, using the tip of a sharp knife (if you have a microwave, you could pop the lemon in these for 40 seconds at this point as this will really bring out the flavour). Put the lemon inside the chicken’s cavity, with the bunch of herbs.
    7. Place the tray in the oven, then turn the heat down immediately to 200°C/400°F/gas 6 and cook for 1 hour 20 minutes.
    8. If you’re doing roast potatoes and veggies, this is the time to crack on with them – get them into the oven for the last 45 minutes of cooking.
    9. Baste the chicken halfway through cooking and if the veg look dry, add a splash of water to the tray to stop them from burning.
    10. When the chicken is cooked, take the tray out of the oven and transfer the chicken to a board to rest for 15 minutes or so. Cover it with a layer of tin foil and a tea towel and leave aside while you make your gravy.
    11. To carve your chicken, remove any string and take off the wings (break them up and add to your gravy, along with the veg trivet, for mega flavour). Carefully cut down between the leg and the breast. Cut through the joint and pull the leg off.
    12. Repeat on the other side, then cut each leg between the thigh and the drumstick so you end up with four portions of dark meat. Place these on a serving platter.
    13. You should now have a clear space to carve the rest of your chicken. Angle the knife along the breastbone and carve one side off, then the other.
    14. When you get down to the fussy bits, just use your fingers to pull all the meat off, and turn the chicken over to get all the tasty, juicy bits from underneath. You should be left with a stripped carcass, and a platter full of lovely meat that you can serve with your piping hot gravy and some delicious roast veg.

  • Ingredients out • Kettle boiled • Oven grill on high • Food processor (fine slicer) • Medium lidded pan, high heat • Large high-sided roasting tray, high heat • Large frying pan, medium-high heat START COOKING Scrub the potatoes clean, finely slice in the processor, then tip into the medium pan and cover with boiling water and the lid.
