Sweet & Salty Chex Mix Recipe | The Kitchen is My Playground image

A perfect mix of salty, sweet, and crunch, this Sweet & Salty Chex Mix recipe delivers up one very tasty snacking treat. Glazed with a mix of brown sugar, honey, and kosher salt, it's a great little nibble for game day munching, lunch box packing, and plain old everyday snacking!

3 c. Corn Chex cereal
2 c. Rice Chex cereal
2 c. mini pretzels
2 c. Cheez-It crackers
1 c. Wheat Chex cereal
1/2 c. unsalted butter, melted
1/2 c. brown sugar
2 T. honey
1 tsp. kosher salt
1 c. Reese's Pieces

Steps:

  • Line a rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or foil. Set aside.
  • In a large bowl, place Corn Chex, Rice Chex, pretzels, Cheez-Its, and Wheat Chex. Stir gently to combine.
  • In a separate small bowl, whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, honey, and kosher salt until well combined and smooth.
  • Pour butter mixture over cereal mixture; stir gently to thoroughly coat. Spread mixture in an even layer on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake at 300℉ for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.
  • Remove pan from oven. Allow to cool completely, about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally and breaking up clumps with your hands.
  • Once cooled, stir in Reese's Pieces.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to about 1 week.
  • Don't skip lining the baking sheet with parchment paper or foil! This stuff gets sticky as it bakes, and lining the pan saves a lot of elbow grease at clean-up time.
  • You can substitute M&Ms for Reese's Pieces, if you'd like.

3 cups Corn Chex™ cereal
2 cups Cheerios™ cereal
1 1/2 cups Bugles® original corn snacks
1/2 cup honey-roasted peanuts or 1 cup pretzels
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoon butter or margarine
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 325°F. In very large bowl, mix cereals, snacks and peanuts.
  • In 1-quart saucepan, heat corn syrup, honey and butter to boiling over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat; stir in vanilla. Pour over cereal mixture, stirring until evenly coated. Spread in ungreased 15x10x1-inch pan.
  • Bake 20 minutes, stirring after 10 minutes. Spread on waxed paper or foil to cool, about 15 minutes. Break into bite-size pieces. Store in airtight container.
