BOURBON CHERRIES RECIPE | EATINGWELL

Bourbon Cherries Recipe | EatingWell image

A boozy fire emanates from these drunken cherries that get better with age. Serve them with cheese or combine the cherry-infused bourbon with seltzer or other soda to make a special cocktail. Fill a 12-ounce rocks glass with ice, add 1 1/2 ounces (3 tablespoons) of the cherry-infused bourbon (or rum), top with seltzer and garnish with the bourbon cherries.

CHERRY BOURBON CHEERWINE RECIPE | SOUTHERN LIVING
Think of this as an extra spunky cherry coke. Old-school Cheerwine, maraschino cherries, Southern-made bourbon, cherry bitters, and a dash of lemon juice make up this totally Southern, completely delicious cocktail that's just perfect from porch sitting to tailgating. Cheerwine and bourbon are both about as old-fashioned as it gets, so this refreshing treat is sure to please the entire crowd with its vintage nod to one of America's most beloved beverages (other than ice-cold sweet tea, of course). The maraschino cherries and cherry bitters give the chilled drink a deep rosy hue that looks so great in the glass, while an old-school toothpick garnish of a lemon round and cherry makes it fun. As for that extra spunky touch? We wanted to give this classic combo a spiked kick with our favorite spirit. Bourbon is an old-fashioned that just never gets old. Down in these parts, folks know the warm feeling of bourbon trickling down the throat in a slow, honey-like fashion; and it happens to be the perfect touch to any cocktail, in our opinion! Especially a vintage-inspired one like this. If you're in the market for some of the best bourbon in the South, from high-end to affordable, we can help you find that perfect match. But, if you're making this drink for a crowd, we suggest branching out with a cherry-lemon-infused bourbon that will bring out the flavors even more. You won't be using that flavored bourbon for anything else we're afraid (unlike our ever-versatile orange-infused bourbon), so make sure you're committed to the big batch. Take a trip down memory lane with this cheery spiked Cheerwine refreshments, but don't forget there's bourbon in there!

  • Pour cherries into pie crust and top evenly with crumble. Bake until pie crust and center of crumble are deep golden brown and juices from cherries are bubbling and look thickened, 1 1/4–1 1/2 hours. (The juices will begin to ooze out of crust and onto foil-lined sheet.) Let pie cool for at least 2 hours at room temperature to allow filling to set properly. (Cutting into the pie before it's set will result in a runny filling). Cover and let stand up to 1 day at room temperature.

CHERRY-BOURBON PIE RECIPE | EPICURIOUS
This crumble-topped pie stars the flavors of an Old Fashioned cocktail. Our secret weapon: jarred sour cherries (just think of all those cherries you won't have to pit!). We like Trader Joe's Dark Morello Cherries, but other brands work well, too.
