This is simple and easy for college students (as is anything I make, considering I'm in college myself). I prefer cheese ravioli, but also like to have meat with my meals for protein. I thought of this one when I was grocery shopping one day.

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 12 minutes

Yield 3-4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 6

1 lb ground beef (I have substituted ground deer as well and it comes out fine.)
1 (25 1/2 ounce) can of your preferred red pasta sauce
35 -40 frozen cheese ravioli
oregano
basil
salt (optional)

Steps:

  • Season raw meat with oregano, basil and salt to taste.
  • Brown in microwave (3 minutes on HIGH, chop and stir, another 3 minutes on HIGH).
  • Drain meat.
  • Pour sauce over browned meat.
  • Microwave on HIGH for 3 minutes.
  • Bring water to a brisk boil in large pot.
  • Slowly add ravioli to boiling water. Add salt if desired.
  • Cook as desired, stirring occasionally to prevent ravioli from sticking to each other and pot. (About 2 minutes for al dente and 6 minutes for well done.).
  • Drain ravioli and add to meatsauce.

1 pound ground sirloin beef (90% lean)
1 can (24 oz each) Hunt's® Roasted Garlic & Onion Pasta Sauce
1 can (14.5 oz each) Hunt's® Diced Tomatoes-No Salt Added, undrained
1 pkg (9 oz each) refrigerated cheese-filled ravioli
2 tablespoons shredded Parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • Cook beef in large skillet over medium-high heat 7 minutes or until crumbled and no longer pink, stirring occasionally; drain. Stir in pasta sauce and undrained tomatoes; bring to boil.
  • Add ravioli to skillet; spoon meat sauce over ravioli until well coated. Reduce heat to medium; cover and simmer 15 minutes or until ravioli is tender.
  • Sprinkle with cheese just before serving.

  • 1. Brown the beef and the pepper, onion and garlic in olive oil in a large, heavy bottomed sauce pan. 2. When browned add the tomato paste, Italian seasonings, sugar, salt, pepper, and bay leaves. Let cook for a few minutes until the tomato paste is heated through. 3. Add the crushed tomatoes and a half of the tomato paste can full of water. Simmer for 25-30 minutes. Taste and re-season halfway through with salt, pepper and herbs if needed and again before serving. 4.While the sauce is simmering cook the ravioli just until they begin to rise to the top and float. You do not need to cook them all the way through. Drain and toss with a tablespoon of butter or olive oil. 5. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Remove bay leaves from sauce. Toss a liberal amount of sauce with ravioli. Reserve any excess sauce for serving. 6. Pour into a greased 9x13 casserole pan. Sprinkle top with mozzarella. Bake about 25 minutes or until bubbly.
