This is an easy recipe for a cream cheese and chopped beef log rolled in pecans.

2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese
1 (2 ounce) package dried beef, chopped
1?½ tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
4 green onions, chopped
1 pinch monosodium glutamate (MSG)
1 cup chopped pecans
¼ cup chopped parsley

Steps:

  • Combine the cream cheese, dried beef, Worcestershire sauce, green onions, and monosodium glutamate; mix well, and refrigerate until chilled.
  • Mix together the chopped pecans and parsley. Roll cheese into log or ball, and roll in pecans and parsley to cover.

1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon ground mustard
2 cups shredded sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
1/2 cup crumbled Stilton cheese
1/2 cup chopped drained roasted red bell peppers (from 7-oz jar)
1/4 cup chopped fresh chives
1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts or pecans
1 large apple, sliced
Assorted crackers

Steps:

  • In large bowl, stir cream cheese, Worcestershire sauce and mustard until blended. Stir in Cheddar and Stilton cheeses, bell peppers and chives.
  • Divide cheese mixture in half. Shape each half into a log. Roll logs in walnuts. Wrap each log separately in plastic wrap or waxed paper. Refrigerate about 2 hours or until firm.
  • Place cheese logs on serving platter. Serve with apple slices and crackers.

ADDICTIVE CHEESE LOGS | JUST A PINCH RECIPES
I have done my best to replicate the cheese logs that were made by a long-gone relative. This person used Kraft Old English sharp cheddar cheese that used to be sold in blocks like Velveeta. Now I can only find it as a "cheese spread" in small 5 ounce glass jars. Any sharp Cheddar should work as well. I used to sneak one out of the freezer and put it in between my bedroom window and the storm window where it was really cold (Michigan) and nibble on it all winter! I like to make big batches and freeze it for Holiday parties. It thaws very quickly at room temperature.
