I came up with this recipe after my daughter had cheese fries at a restaurant and couldn't stop talking about them. She loves that I can fix them so quickly at home. Plus, the frozen fry packets can be refrigerated and reheated. —Melissa Tatum, Greensboro, North Carolina

1 package (28 ounces) frozen steak fries
1 can (10-3/4 ounces) condensed cheddar cheese soup, undiluted
1/4 cup 2% milk
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
Paprika

Steps:

  • Arrange the steak fries in a single layer in 2 greased 15x10x1-in. baking pans. Bake at 450° for 15-18 minutes or until tender and golden brown. , Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, combine the soup, milk, garlic powder and onion powder; heat through. Drizzle over fries; sprinkle with paprika.

18 oz Uncooked potato(es) Russet variety
1 spray(s) Cooking spray
0.25 tsp(s) Table salt
0.25 tsp(s) Black pepper
2 oz Reduced-fat cheddar cheese shredded (about 1/2 cup)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400°F. Line large rimmed baking sheet with silicone baking mat or parchment paper. (If your baking sheet is nonstick you can leave it unlined.)
  • Peel potatoes and cut into 1/4-inch-wide strips (you should have about 52). Place on prepared baking sheet. Spray with nonstick spray, sprinkle with salt and pepper, and toss until coated evenly. Arrange potatoes to form single layer, making sure potatoes do not touch or overlap.
  • Bake 20 minutes. Turn fries over and spread out. Bake until golden brown, about 20 minutes longer.
  • Gather fries together; sprinkle with Cheddar. Bake until cheese is melted, about 5 minutes. Transfer fries in pan to wire rack and let cool several minutes before serving.
  • Serving size: about 13 fries
