Aug 15, 2014 · The CCK is cheaper and better in performance. I agree with cowboyardee that most Chinese cleavers are not as well made. However, this $60 price point does make a few other alternatives more attractive. For example, maybe this Zhen thin blade VG-10 cleaver (1.8 mm spine) for $56 is a better buy. Or maybe the JCK cleaver at $100 is a better buy.

CHINESE VEGETABLE CLEAVERS? : ASKCULINARY
I have a CCK cleaver. I like it. I can’t get a rhythm going with it like I can with a chef knife. Does wonders slicing up a pile of vegetables. All in all a fun knife. It wouldn’t replace a chef knife for me but definitely has a place in my kitchen. If this is your first nice knife I would get a French or Japanese style chef knife.
