Cook Time 30 minutes

Yield 4

Number Of Ingredients 18

1 Onions, sliced
1 Bell peppers, green, sliced
12 oz Roast beef or pastrami (sub other deli meat), sliced
4 Hoagie buns (sub hot dog buns)
6 slices Cheese, American or provolone
1 Tbsp Butter
1 Tbsp Oil, cooking
1 1/2 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce
2 Tbsp Mustard, Dijon (opt)
2 stalks Green onions, sliced
1 clove Garlic, minced
1/2 head Iceberg lettuce, sliced
1 Tomatoes, chopped
1 Tbsp Lemon juice
2 Tbsp Yogurt, plain
3 Tbsp Oil, cooking
1/4 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350F / 177C. Open up buns and place onto a sheet pan. Arrange cheese onto buns. Bake buns in the oven until cheese is melted, 5 to 7 minutes.
  • Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add butter and cooking oil and then onions to melted butter with some salt. Saute for 8 to 10 minutes, until lightly caramelized. If the pan ever looks too dry, add a splash of water.
  • Next add green peppers to the skillet and saute for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Fold in roast beef with Worcestershire sauce. Saute for another 2 to 3 minutes, remove from pan and set aside.
  • Spread Dijon onto buns (if using) and then divide up filling into toasted buns. Toss dressing with lettuce, tomatoes, and green onions. Enjoy salad on the side!

Number Of Ingredients 11

1 2.5-3 pound boneless beef chuck pot roast
1 cup chopped onion (1 large)
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon instant beef bouillon granules
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon dried oregano, crushed
½ teaspoon dried basil, crushed
½ teaspoon dried thyme, crushed
½ cup chopped pepperoncini (Italian pickled peppers) or other pickled peppers
8 hoagie buns or kaiser rolls, split and toasted

PHILLY CHEESESTEAK SANDWICH (((AUTHENTIC))) RECIPE - FOOD.COM
I was born and raised in Philadelphia and this was my favorite lunch at the luncheonettes (sandwich shops). Places throughout the rest of the Country that claim to make Philly Cheese Steaks just do not get them to taste the same, and one of the reasons is that they do not use extra-virgin olive oil. Anyone who says that Pat's and Gino's in South Philly uses Cheez Wiz, is talking about the way they make it now. The old authentic way uses Provolone Cheese. Also, using deli roast beef is the same as using top round sliced wafer thin or frozen Rib-Eye roast shaved on an electric slicer. I was born in 1942 and this is the way they were made way back then. We are talking about authentic, not the way they are made now. If you make any changes with the ingredients or the directions, it will not be the same. Make it EXACTLY as written here.

  • First make the cheese sauce by combining the Velveeta, black pepper, cayenne, and milk in a small pan. Heat over low heat, stirring occasionally, until it's melted and hot. Keep warm.Melt 2 tablespoons butter on a griddle over medium heat, then place the deli roll halves on the griddle until golden brown. Set aside. Heat 2 more tablespoons butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Throw in the roast beef and move it around with a spatula, breaking it up a bit as you go. Cook/warm for about a minute or so, then remove it to a plate and set it aside. Add the remaining tablespoons butter to the same skillet and throw in the onions and peppers. Reduce the heat to medium-low and cook the veggies until dark golden and soft, about 8 to 10 minutes. To build the sandwiches, place a pile of beef on the bottom half of each roll. Spoon cheese sauce over the beef. Top with peppers and onions, then top with more cheese sauce. Place the top half of the roll on top and serve immediately!Options: * Spread spicy mustard on the rolls before building the sandwiches* Mix horseradish with mayo and spread it on the rolls before building the sandwiches* Add a few dashes of Worcestershire or hot sauce to the meat and peppers while cooking.* Add prepared horseradish to the cheese sauce.

LEFTOVER ROAST BEEF, REBORN AS PHILLY CHEESE STEAKSANDWICH ...
Leftover Roast Beef, reborn as Philly Cheese SteakSandwich. I made a lovely rump roast over the weekend, and ended up with a lot left over. And the question was raised, at least in my mind, what to do with the leftovers. Now, the piece that was left was lovely and rare, and very lean. And I knew I could cut it very thin and I could make a nice Beef Dip or French Dip with it.

Traditionally, Philly cheesesteaks are made with rib eye steaks or rib roasts, but the cost of making these sandwiches can quickly add up using this premium beef cut. CAN I USE A CHUCK STEAK TO MAKE PHILLY CHEESESTEAK? - FOOD52
Mar 02, 2017 · If you do go with a thin-cut, tenderized technique, I'd suggest flat-iron steaks, tri-tip, or hanger steaks. Tenderize them in a ziplock bag. Put that in the freezer long enough to stiffen the meat (not completely frozen), then use a very sharp knife to cut paper-thin slices. That should work for an inexpensive meat for cheese steaks.
