Cook Time 10 minutes

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 11

200 g mung bean vermicelli
1 cup minced beef or pork
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon cooking oil
1 tablespoon Doubanjiang
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon scallion white ( , white part and green part minced separately)
2 cloves garlic ( , minced)
1 teaspoon minced ginger
1 teaspoon sugar
2 cups water or chicken stock

Steps:

  • Marinade the minced beef or pork with pinch of salt. Soak Chinese vermicelli in warm water until soft around 10 minutes Move out and drain.
  • Heat up oil in wok and fry the ground pork until aroma. Transfer out.
  • Add doubanjiang, minced garlic, sliced ginger and chopped scallion in wok and stir-fry over medium fire until the oil becomes red and you can smell the aroma. Return pork and add soy sauce. Mix well.
  • Pour 2 cup of clean water (or chicken stock is much better ) and bring everything to boil. Add soaked vermicelli and sugar; give a big stir-fry to mix everything well. (There is no need to cook off all the liquid as the vermicelli continues to adsorb liquid after transferring out)
  • Sprinkle chopped green onions and serve hot.

‘ANTS CLIMBING A TREE’ NOODLES - MARION'S KITCHEN

‘Ants Climbing A Tree’ Noodles - Marion's Kitchen image

Spice fans will love my take on this Sichuan classic: beef mince and a rich, spicy sauce that soaks into bouncy noodles. Guys, this weeknight dinner is a goodie for all the right reasons. Feel free to miss out the cooking wine if you want it alcohol-free, otherwise enjoy the fragrance it lends to the dish.

Provided by MARIONSKITCHEN.COM

Yield 2

Number Of Ingredients 12

80g (2.8 oz) glass noodles (also known as cellophane or mung bean noodles)
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1½ tbsp douban jiang chilli paste*
1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
200g (7 oz) beef mince
1 tbsp Shaoxing cooking wine
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp dark soy sauce
1 tsp sugar
1 cup chicken stock
1 tsp finely grated garlic
2 tbsp finely chopped spring onion (scallions)

Steps:

  • Soak the noodles in room temperature water for 10 minutes or until they’re just pliable. Drain and set aside for later. Heat the vegetable oil in a wok or frying pan over medium heat. Add the douban jiang and ginger and stir-fry for about 10 seconds. Then add in the beef. Stir-fry until the beef is almost cooked. Then add the Shaoxing wine, soy sauce, dark soy sauce and sugar. Stir-fry for about half a minute. Then add the chicken stock. Allow to simmer for 2 minutes. Then add in the noodles. Toss the noodles in the sauce for 2-3 minutes or until the noodles have soaked up all the sauce. Turn the heat off and toss through the grated garlic and the spring onions. Serve warm. *NOTES: Douban jiang is a spicy fermented chilli bean paste. Find it at your Asian grocery store or order it online.

Feb 28, 2020 · Pork belly with some fat is the best for ants climbing a tree because it is juicier and the oil render (along with the flavor of the pork) while the glass noodles will absorb stir-frying. However, you can use chicken meat if you do not eat pork. It is easier to cut the meat in a semi-frozen state.

ANTS THAT CAN'T CLIMB GLASS? - THE ANT FARM AND ...
Oct 07, 2017 · 2017-10-08T16:03. Climbing is a talent most needed by ants that live in or around trees. Ants that live in the ground, especially in deserts, may have little need to develop climbing skills. Also, climbing glass is helped by a higher surface tension-to-weight ratio--so bigger heavier ants have a harder time with glass.
