Buttermilk Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe: How to Make It image

My mother-in-law gave me this homemade blue cheese dressing over 30 years ago. It’s a delicious salad dressing, but we also like it as a dip with corn chips. —Sharon McClatchey, Muskogee, Oklahoma

Number Of Ingredients 9

1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup sour cream
1-1/2 teaspoons minced chives
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 to 1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
Torn mixed salad greens

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Stir in enough buttermilk to achieve desired consistency. Stir in blue cheese. Cover and store in the refrigerator. Serve with salad greens.

4 ounces Gorgonzola
1/3 cup sour cream
1/3 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup mayonnaise
1 tablespoon white wine vinegar
1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Put the Gorgonzola in a small mixing bowl and mash it with a fork. Add the sour cream, buttermilk, mayonnaise, white wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce and black pepper and whisk to combine. Serve or store in an airtight container, in the refrigerator, for up to 1 week.
