Instant Pot Apple Butter | Foodtalk image

Prep Time 5 minutes

Cook Time 60 minutes

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 pounds apples (I used 3 large Honey Crisp and 3 small Granny Smith)
Juice of 1/2 lemon
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
Pinch ground cloves
Pinch salt
1/2 c apple cider
1/4 c sweetener of choice (I used 2 T maple syrup and 2 T brown sugar)

Steps:

  • No need to peel the apples! Just remove cores and chop into cubes.
  • Place apples into Instant Pot with all other ingredients. Hold back on the sweetener if you like. Once the apples are puréed later and you can taste the mixture, you can add more sweetener if desired.
  • Set Instant Pot to Pressure Cook - High - for 20 minutes. When time is up, quick release the steam.
  • Using a stick blender, blend the apples until smooth right in the Instant Pot, or transfer to a blender. Be careful! This is like hot molten apple lava!
  • Cook puréed mixture on Sauté function about another 30 min, alternating between low and high settings depending on your Instant Pot, making sure the mixture does not burn.
  • Taste and add additional sweetener if desired. Cook for as long as you like, depending on how thick and spreadable you want the butter to be. Mixture will also thicken more upon cooling.
  • Once cool, place mixture into 2 glass jars and store in fridge for about a week.
