Garlic and Onion Burgers Recipe | Allrecipes image

This recipe makes very flavorful burgers. The secret is refrigerating the meat after adding the other ingredients. Use ground round or sirloin for the best results.

2 pounds ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
3 cloves garlic, minced
½ cup minced onion
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon ground black pepper
1 teaspoon Italian-style seasoning

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, mix together the beef, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, onion, salt, pepper and Italian seasoning. Refrigerate for 2 to 4 hours.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Form burgers into 1/2 inch thick patties. Lightly oil grate. Place burgers on grill. Cook for approximately 6 minutes, turning once.

1 teaspoon olive oil
1 pound ground beef
salt, to taste
pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 onion, chopped
1 green bell pepper, chopped

Steps:

  • Add the oil to a pan over medium high heat, add the beef, and break up with a wooden spoon.
  • Continue to break the meat into small pieces; add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onions, and peppers. Mix until well combined.
  • Stir the meat occasionally for 8 to 10 minutes making sure all sides are browned. The meat is done when there is no pink in the larger chunks of ground beef.

I couldn't find a recipe on this site (or elsewhere) for basic meatloaf with caramelized onions in the mix-not meatloaf with a topping of caramelized onions or "stuffed". Because I wanted the caramelized onions to take center stage, for that reason, you won't find any tomato sauce, mushrooms, no cheese, no strips of bacon on top, etc. in this recipe. The recipe was found on lifeisaplate.com and modified to my specifications. You can substitute other types of ground meat or use other meat in combination: turkey, chicken, buffalo, turkey, etc. Use any preferable binder of your choice, for example-finely ground breadcrumbs, almond or walnut meal, masa harina, rice flour. Brown rice was the binder I chose and it was ground to medium-coarse consistency (similar to cornmeal). The recipe was cut in half because I like meatloaf on the small size and save the larger size when I am need of a doorstop.

Once the onions have exuded their juices, I rely on the onion juice to deglaze the pan and then turn the heat back up to high to cook the onions.
