This is too simple, but so good that I had to post. Very quick and makes a great side dish to anything; we especially like this served aside ham or fish.

8 ounces wide egg noodles
1/4-1/2 cup salted butter

Steps:

  • Boil water for noodles, cook noodles according to directions on package.
  • While noodles are draining, melt butter in a small frying pan.
  • Keep stirring until butter starts to foam and brown (watch carefully, don't burn).
  • Add noodles to a casserole dish, pour browned butter over noodles; mix to coat.
  • Serve; salt and pepper to taste.

Brown Butter Basted Egg

1 egg
4 tablespoons butter
Salt
Pepper

Steps:

  • Bring a small pot of water to a boil
  • Once boiling, carefully place the egg into the boiling water
  • Let boil for 7 minutes and immediately remove to a bowl of ice water
  • Peel the shell from the egg
  • In a small sauté pan, heat butter over medium-high heat until it stars to become fragrant and begins to brown
  • Once brown, add the egg
  • Tilt the pan slightly so that all of the butter is surrounding the egg
  • Using a small tasting spoon, continously spoon the hot butter over top of the egg to baste it
  • Once the egg begins to brown on the outside, season with a little salt and pepper and remove
  • Serve over toast
