This is a rye whiskey cocktail similar to its brother, the Manhattan, but this one has dry vermouth, optional Amer Picon, and a splash of maraschino liqueur. You can find Amer Picon online; if you like, use that in place of the bitters.

2 fluid ounces rye whiskey
1 fluid ounce dry vermouth
1 dash aromatic bitters (such as Angostura®)
1 dash maraschino liqueur
1 lemon twist for garnish

Steps:

  • Place ice in a cocktail shaker. Pour in rye whiskey and dry vermouth. Add aromatic bitters and maraschino liqueur. Shake and strain into a chilled martini glass; garnish with lemon twist.

shot espresso, made with De’Longhi Signature Espresso Blend

1 tsp.

brown sugar

Ice

1 oz.

mezcal

1/2 oz.

amaro

dashes citrus bitters

2

dashes orange bitters

Orange peel, for garnish

Brandied cherry, for garnish

Steps:

  • Using La Specialista Espresso machine, brew 1 shot espresso. Add a teaspoon of brown sugar, and stir until sugar is completely dissolved, then set aside to cool while assembling the remainder of the drink. Into a mixing glass filled with ice, such as a pint glass or body of a cocktail shaker, combine mezcal, amaro, and bitters. Stir to combine, then add espresso and stir again until all ingredients are well chilled. Strain into serving glass and garnish with orange peel and cherry.
