¼ cup sausage
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
1 ready-made pizza dough
1 (8 ounce) can pizza sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic
½ cup diced pepperoni
1 (8 ounce) package Italian style shredded cheese
10 pepperoni slices

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 420 degrees F (215 degrees C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage; cook and stir until browned and crumbly, 5 to 7 minutes. (Drain and discard grease.)
  • Roll dough out into a 9x14-inch rectangle. Cut 8 equal-sized slices along the 2 long edges using a knife or kitchen scissors, leaving a 4 inches of the center uncut.
  • Spoon pizza sauce down the center of the dough. Add garlic, diced pepperoni, sausage, and cheese in that order. Top with pepperoni slices.
  • Fold sliced edges across the filling in an alternating pattern (braiding). Pinch ends to seal.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes. Rotate pan and continue baking until golden brown, about 10 minutes more.
  • Remove from oven and allow to stand for 5 minutes before slicing.

This easy, cheese-stuffed twist on pizza night makes a great dinner or fun game day appetizer.

1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Rolls (8 Count) or 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury™ Original Crescent Dough Sheet
1/4 cup pizza sauce (from 14-oz jar)
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup pepperoni slices (2 oz) (about 27 slices)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray large cookie sheet with cooking spray, or line with cooking parchment paper.
  • Unroll dough on cookie sheet. Press into 13x8-inch rectangle; if using crescent rolls, firmly press perforations to seal. Spread pizza sauce in 3 1/2-inch-wide strip lengthwise down center of dough all the way to ends. Layer half the pepperoni slices and cheese over sauce; repeat.
  • Make cuts 1 inch apart on each side of rectangle just to edge of filling. Alternating from side to side, fold cut strips of dough at an angle halfway across filling, slightly overlapping ends.
  • Bake 16 to 20 minutes or until deep golden brown. Serve with additional pizza sauce, if desired.
