Bourbon-Glazed Ham Recipe | Allrecipes image

This is a delicious combo of about five recipes I found while researching for my first Thanksgiving ham. The empty baking pan afterwards was my best compliment!

1 (5 pound) boneless ham
⅓ cup bourbon whiskey
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple in juice
½ cup honey
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 ½ cups water
1 (8 ounce) can pineapple rings

Steps:

  • Score the surface of the ham, making diamond shapes about 1/2-inch deep. Place the ham in a large, resealable bag. Add the bourbon, brown sugar, crushed pineapple, honey, and garlic to the bag; refrigerate at least 8 hours, turning the bag over several times while marinating.
  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Transfer the ham and marinade to a large baking dish; pour the water into the dish. Attach the pineapple rings around the surface of the ham with toothpicks.
  • Bake in preheated oven until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees F (95 degrees C), basting occasionally with the sauce in the pan, 90 to 105 minutes.

It’s hardly the holidays without a ham, and with a deliciously sweet glaze (made with whole cloves, brown sugar, brown mustard, cola, and bourbon), this one delivers big on festive flavor. For this bourbony brown sugar glazed ham recipe, choose a bone-in half-ham, brined with natural juices. Leaving a thin layer of fat after trimming amps up the flavor and keeps the meat moist.

1 (6- to 8-lb.) fully cooked, bone-in ham
48 whole cloves
1 (16-oz.) package light brown sugar
1 cup spicy brown mustard
1 cup cola soft drink
¾ cup bourbon

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Remove skin from ham, and trim fat to 1/4-inch thickness. Make shallow cuts in fat 3/4 inch apart in a diamond pattern.
  • Insert cloves in centers of diamonds. Place ham in a lightly greased 13- x 9-inch pan. Stir together brown sugar and next 3 ingredients; spoon mixture over ham.
  • Bake at 350° on lowest oven rack 2 hours and 30 minutes, basting slowly with pan juices every 15 to 20 minutes. Remove ham from oven, and let stand 20 minutes before slicing, basting occasionally with pan juices.

Place on a waxed paper-lined baking sheet., In a microwave, melt chocolate chips and shortening; stir until smooth. Brush onto both sides of remaining bacon; decorate as desired., Refrigerate until set. Store in refrigerator.
