1 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup confectioners' sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon instant coffee granules
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 ounce unsweetened chocolate
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • in a mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • add vanilla.
  • combine coffee granules and flour.
  • stir into creamed mixture.
  • mix well.
  • cover and refrigerate until easy to handle.
  • roll into 3/4 inch balls.
  • place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • bake at 350 degrees for 18-20 minutes or until set.
  • remove to wire racks.
  • meanwhile, for glaze, melt butter and chocolate together.
  • add melted mixture to the sugar along with the milk.
  • beat until smooth.
  • frost the cookies while still warm.

3 cup(s) vanilla wafer crumbs
1/3 cup(s) kahlua - coffee liqueur
1 teaspoon(s) instant coffee
2 tablespoon(s) corn syrup
1 cup(s) icing sugar
3/4 cup(s) chopped nuts
1/2 cup(s) icing sugar for rolling and coating the bon bons

Steps:

  • Crush vanilla wafers if you have the cookies and not the wafer crumbs.
  • Stir coffee granules in with the Kahlua until dissolved. Stir in corn syrup, 1 cup icing sugar and crumbs until evenly mixed, then stir in nuts.
  • Shape mixture into little 1 inch balls and place on baking sheet lined with waxed paper.
  • Roll the bon bons in the 1/2 cup of icing sugar.
  • Store in an airtight container. It will keep for 2 weeks and the flavors improve with time.
  • You could re-roll the bon bons in icing sugars.
