Absolute Best Ham and Cheese Sliders | Just A Pinch Recipes image

These yummy sliders are a huge hit with the family and with the folks at our local church when we bring these to brunch! Feel free to play around with the fillings....sometimes we make these with sliced turkey and cheddar cheese. I also use spicy brown mustard at times instead of plain yellow mustard. Have fun and enjoy!

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 package(s) king hawaiian rolls
1 package(s) thin sliced deli ham
1-2 package(s) swiss cheese, sliced
POPPY SEED TOPPING
1 stick(s) butter, melted
1 teaspoon(s) worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 tablespoon(s) mustard
1 tablespoon(s) dried minced onion
1 tablespoon(s) poppy seeds

Steps:

  • Cut the top off rolls and set aside. Place a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss inside of each roll. Replace tops. Place them into a large baking dish or heavy cookie sheet tightly together.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together all of the poppy seed sauce ingredients. Pour evenly over all of the sandwiches. Just use enough to cover the tops. Let sit 10 minutes or until butter sets slightly
  • Cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 12-15 minutes or until cheese is melted. Uncover and cook for 2 additional minutes or until tops are slightly brown and crispy. Serve warm.

If you're in charge of the Easter ham this year, toss the glaze packet and choose one of our three glaze options: Pineapple-Prosecco Glaze, Cola-Dijon-Brown Sugar Glaze, or Coffee-and-Pepper Jelly Glaze.

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Place ham half, cut side down, in a heavy-duty aluminum foil-lined jelly-roll pan; let stand at room temperature 30 minutes. Brush 1/2 cup desired glaze over ham. Bake, uncovered, on lowest oven rack 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until a meat thermometer inserted into thickest portion registers 140°, basting every 30 minutes with 1/2 cup glaze. Remove from oven, and spoon pan drippings over ham. Let stand 10 minutes.

Pour 2 cups water in the bottom of roasting pan and place ham on the foil on the rack. In a small bowl, stir together jam, brown sugar, bourbon, Dijon, and red pepper flakes. Brush ham with some of the glaze and roast, basting with more glaze every 30 minutes, until an instant-read thermometer inserted in the thickest part reads 140°, about 1 ½ to 2 hours.  Let rest 15 minutes before carving.
