BEST STEAK FAJITAS RECIPE - HOW TO MAKE BEEF FAJITAS

Best Steak Fajitas Recipe - How to Make Beef Fajitas image

The best part about beef steak fajitas is that you can pair them with any vegetables you love: bell peppers, diced zucchini, even sliced mushrooms.

Total Time 2 hours 15 minutes

Prep Time 2 hours

Cook Time 15 minutes

Yield 8 servings

Number Of Ingredients 22

1

whole beef flank steak

1/2 c.

olive oil

3 tbsp.

Worcestershire sauce

1/3 c.

fresh-squeezed lime juice

3

cloves garlic, minced

1 tbsp.

cumin

1 tbsp.

chili powder

1/2 tsp.

red pepper flakes

1 tsp.

salt

1/2 tsp.

black pepper

1 tbsp.

sugar

2

medium onions, halved and sliced

1

red bell pepper, sliced

1

orange bell pepper, sliced

1

green bell pepper, sliced

1

yellow bell pepper, sliced

Oil, for frying

Flour tortillas, warmed

Cheese (grated cheddar/Jack or crumbled queso fresco), for topping

Salsa, for topping

Sour cream, for topping

Cilantro leaves, for topping

Steps:

  • In a dish, mix together the olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, lime juice, garlic, cumin, chili powder, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and sugar until combined. Pour half of the marinade into a separate dish. In one dish, place the flank steak, turning it over to coat. In the second dish, place all the veggies, turning to coat. Cover the dishes with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours.  Prepare the tortillas and toppings.  Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat and drizzle in some oil. Add the veggies and cook them for a few minutes, until they're cooked but still slightly firm and have nice black/brown pieces. Remove to a plate and set aside. Heat the same same skillet (or a grill pan if you have it) over high heat and drizzle in some oil. Cook the meat for about 2 minutes per side until medium rare. Remove and allow to rest on a cutting board for 5 minutes. Slice the meat right before serving and serve with all the fixins. Delicious!

HOW TO MAKE THE BEST FAJITAS - INSPIRED TASTE
Fajitas cook quickly, so taking a bit of time to season steak, chicken, or shrimp with our simple fajita seasoning is a good idea. Use our recipe as a guide; you can make all three proteins or choose one. Use 2 ½ pounds of protein for six people. Even though it is only the two of us, we still make the whole batch. The leftovers are fabulous.

  • Drain and rinse the beans, and then place them in a large pot. Add the garlic, green, orange and red bell peppers and the onions. Cover them with about an inch of water, and then add the ham hock or bacon. Next add the chili powder, cumin, salt and pepper. Stir to combine, and then bring the mixture to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer the beans until tender, about 2 hours. Check the liquid level about halfway through the cooking process; if you'd prefer the beans to be less soupy, you can ladle off about a third of the cooking liquid.

CHICKEN FAJITAS – INSTANT POT RECIPES
Fajitas are so easy when you start with frozen chicken tenders! You may need to cut the tenders into smaller bits before serving them, depending on how stuffed you like the tortillas. We prefer them filled to the brim with whole tenders in the mix. You may want to take more, um, delicate bites. The best way to cut them to bits is to use kitchen shears after cooking. The pickling brine from the jalapeño rings adds salt and a little sour kick to the dish. The amount you use is not crucial (there’s already enough liquid in the pot). Just stick a tablespoon into the jar and pull out some of the rings with their brine. A little more or less won’t change the overall character of the dish. Unfortunately, because of the way the timing works in this recipe, you can’t use fresh bell pepper strips. They get too soggy with the longer cooking time that the chicken tenders require.

  • As the sauce comes to a simmer, use a slotted spoon to transfer the chicken tenders and the vegetables to a serving platter. Boil the sauce, stirring often, until reduced to a glaze, about 10 minutes. Turn off the SAUTÉ function and pour the sauce over the chicken and vegetables before serving.

  • Combine first five ingredients in large roasting pan (a disposable is just fine). Place brisket in the marinade, fat side up. Cover tightly with foil. Marinate in refrigerator for 24-48 hours. When ready to cook, place pan covered in foil into a 300-degree oven. Cook brisket for approximately 40 minutes per pound. When fork-tender, transfer whole brisket to a cutting board. Slice against the grain and place slices back into the cooking liquid. Serve immediately, spooning juice over the slices. Barbeque sauce may be used, if preferred. You may store pan in fridge for up to two days or freeze for use at a later date. If fat collects and hardens at the top, remove and discard. Brisket is great with mashed potatoes, with the juice spooned over the top. It’s also great on a sandwich with melted cheese.
