RECIPE: BEN & JERRY’S GIANT CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES
This recipe comes from the Ben & Jerry’s Homemade Ice Cream & Dessert Book, and was used in the original Scoop Shop. Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough may get all the attention, but let’s not forget what cookie dough is also good for: cookies! We like our chocolate chip cookies moist, chunky and BIG. Throw a scoop of Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream in between two of these for a real treat.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
- Beat the butter and both sugars in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix well.
- Mix the flour, salt and baking soda in another bowl. Add the dry ingredients to the batter and mix until well blended. Stir in the chocolate chips and walnuts (if desired).
- Drop the dough, using a small ice cream scoop, 2 to 3 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten each scoop with the back of a spoon to about 3 inches in diameter.
- Bake until the centers are still slightly soft to the touch, 11 to 14 minutes. Let cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to racks to cool completely.

- In a small bowl, mix the chopped cherries and chocolate together. Cover the bowl and place them in the freezer until ready to use.
- In a blender, puree the cream, chocolate milk, sugar, salt, and vanilla until creamy and smooth.
- Put the blender in the fridge until chilled. Once chilled, place in the freezer for 45 minutes.
- Remove from the freezer and blend for 15 to 20 seconds. Pour into the serving dish, cover, and place back in the freezer for another 45 minutes.
- Remove from the freezer and whisk. Add the frozen chocolate and cherry mixture and gently mix in. Place back in the freezer for another 45 minutes. Repeat the process 1 to 2 more times.
- Cover and leave in the freezer until completely set and ready to serve. Enjoy!

- Combine the coarsely minced chocolate, pecans, walnuts and chocolate covered almonds in a bowl, cover and chill. Heat the unsweetened chocolate in the top of a double boiler over warm, not boiling water. Whisk in the lowfat milk, a little at a time, and heat, stirring constantly, till smooth. Remove from the heat and let cold. Whisk the Large eggs in a mixing bowl till light and fluffy, 1-2 min. Whisk in the sugar, a little at a time, then continue whisking till completely blended, about 1 minute more. Add in the cream, vanilla and salt and whisk to blend. Pour the chocolate mix into the cream mix and blend. Cover and chill till cool, about 1-3 hrs, depending on your refrigerator. Transfer the cream mix to an ice cream maker and freeze following the manufacturer's instructions. After the ice cream stiffens (about 2 min before it is done), add in the chocolate and nuts, then continue freezing till the ice cream is ready. Makes one Qt.
