2 tablespoons oyster sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon rice wine
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1 lb flank steak
1 tablespoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons rice wine
1 lb broccoli floret
2 tablespoons other high heat oil or 2 tablespoons grapeseed oil, plus
1 dash sesame oil
2 teaspoons garlic, minced
1 teaspoon ginger, minced

Steps:

  • Prepare finishing sauce by combining all the ingredients in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Cut the flank steak extremely thin and place in a bowl. Mix together the corn starch and rice wine and pour over the steak pieces. Stir well to coat all the meat. Marinate the meat for about 15 minutes.
  • While the steak is marinating, steam the broccoli just until it turns bright green. Remove the broccoli from the steamer. Do not cook it all the way to tender; it will finish cooking while it is stir-fried.
  • Heat wok or large skillet until it is hot. Pour in oil and swirl it around. Lay out meat in one layer and let it cook until browned. Turn over the beef slices, add the garlic and ginger, and mix around quickly. Add the broccoli. Give the finishing sauce a quick stir and pour it over the beef and broccoli. Stir everything together until the sauce thickens. Serve over rice.

Stir-fried flank steak and steamed broccoli are cooked in soy-ginger sauce to create this Panda Express favorite in less than an hour.

1 lb sliced thinly against the grain flank steak
1 tbsp cornstarch
3 tbsp divided shaoxing wine
1 lb cut into bite sized pieces broccoli floret
2 tbsp cooking oil
¼ tsp sesame oil
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp very finely minced ginger
2 tbsp oyster sauce
2 tbsp water
1 tbsp brown sugar
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
2 tsp optional Sesame seeds

Steps:

  • Add the beef, cornstarch and 2 tablespoons of the shaoxing wine together in a ziploc bag and squeeze the bag a few times to combine.
  • Let marinate for 20 minutes.
  • Half steam the broccoli.
  • Combine the oyster sauce, water, 1 tablespoon of the shaoxing wine, brown sugar, soy sauce and cornstarch into a small bowl and stir to mix.
  • Heat wok on high.
  • Heat the cooking oil and sesame oil in the pan and add 1/3 of the flank steak.
  • Sear on high heat, 1 minute on each side.
  • Remove beef and cook the last two batches.
  • Add your garlic and ginger and cook for 10 to 15 seconds.
  • Add the beef back into the pan.
  • Add in the broccoli.
  • Stir sauce again and add it to the pan.
  • Quickly toss to combine until the sauce just thickens.
  • Add sesame seeds for garnish (optional).
  • Serve immediately.
