When you need an easy dinner idea, this Baked Spaghetti recipe is here to save the day! Spaghetti pasta, ground beef, marinara sauce and cheese are baked together until hot and golden brown on top. Easy, family-friendly comfort food!

Number Of Ingredients 12

16 ounces spaghetti pasta (white or whole wheat)
2 teaspoons olive oil
¾ cup chopped yellow onion
1 pound ground beef (or ground turkey or sausage)
4 cloves garlic (minced)
48 ounces marinara sauce (2 jars, 24 ounces each, or homemade)
1 ½ teaspoons Italian seasoning
½ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon black pepper
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
4 ounces shredded mozzarella cheese (1 cup)
chopped fresh parsley or basil (optional, for serving)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350° F.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Break the spaghetti noodles in half and add them to the boiling water. Cook according to the package directions for al dente. Drain and set aside.
  • Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook, stirring often, for 2 minutes.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and increase the heat to medium-high. Cook, crumbling the meat, until browned. Drain off excess grease.
  • Add the garlic to the pan and cook, stirring, for 30 seconds. Then stir in the marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper.
  • Reduce the heat and cook the sauce at a low simmer for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Stir in ¼ cup of the grated Parmesan. Then stir in the cooked spaghetti, mixing it well with the sauce.
  • Transfer the spaghetti and sauce mixture to a 13x9-inch baking dish. Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top, followed by the remaining ¼ cup Parmesan.
  • Cover the dish with foil (spray the underside lightly with cooking spray to keep the cheese from sticking to the foil).
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Then uncover and bake for 10-15 minutes more, until the casserole is hot and the cheese is golden brown. Serve, garnished with chopped fresh parsley or basil, if desired.

1 lb lean (at least 80%) ground beef
1/2 cup Progresso™ Italian-style bread crumbs
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 small onion, finely chopped (1/4 cup)
1 egg

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Line 13x9-inch pan with foil; spray with cooking spray.
  • In large bowl, mix all ingredients. Shape mixture into 24 (1 1/2-inch) meatballs. Place 1 inch apart in pan.
  • Bake uncovered 18 to 22 minutes or until temperature reaches 160°F and no longer pink in center.
