The smokiness of the bacon really gives wonderful flavor! Just try it...you will love it!

Number Of Ingredients 5

1-2 - container of chicken livers (usually 1.5lbs)
1lb - bacon (any brand - do not use thick sliced)
2 tablespoon(s) garlic powder
1 tablespoon(s) onion powder
dash(es) salt & black pepper

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350*. Spray sheet pan with non-stick cooking spray or cover with parchment paper
  • Drain and rinse chicken livers. Cut larger pieces into smaller pieces
  • Place livers in a bowl, add spices, mix lightly to coat with spices
  • Cut bacon in half
  • Wrap one half of bacon around each liver, place on prepared pan. Lightly dust with garlic powder and black pepper. You do not need much salt for this dish!
  • Cook for 15min and check them. Livers will be done when they are browned and bacon is browned and crispy. Takes about 45min altogether.
  • Serve with a smokey BBQ or a rustic dijon style mustard.

Steps:

  • "NOTE: Liver is high in cholesterol, about 300 mg per 3 oz serving Rinse chicken livers, remove any dark spots and fat, and pat dry. Pierce each liver several times with a fork. (Note: any liver could be cut into pieces about one or two bite size.) In a 1 quart casserole, combine livers with seasonings. Stir. Cover tightly. Microwave at High for 1 min, then at Medium 5-6 min or until liver is pink. Allow 5 min after cooking time. For two servings, start with a bit less than 1/2 lb liver and half the spices (or sprinkle them from the spice container). Cook about 1/2 min High, 2 min Medium and check. "
